Problem with a Friend's Messenger Font by Dame92 on 05-25-2009 at 05:07 PM

Hey :)

Ever since my friend has made her new hotmail account; there has been a problem with her font.

When ever she talks to other people, her font appears to them extrememly small. But it seems normal to her. She also has no Emoticion options or font options on her chat windows, meaning she has to go to options to put an Emoticion.

As you can realise this causes a lot of frustration for her and other's she may be talking to.

Much appreciated if any of you have a solution.

Thanks in advance :)

First question: is she using Messenger Plus!? Because that isn't clear about your post.

----

Second, the "no Emoticons options or font options" problem:
Do you mean she doesn't have the toolbar where you can select the emoticons or change the font?

If so, then that isn't a Messenger Plus! bug or something but simply a setting in Windows Live Messenger itself. To enable the toolbar she must go to the main menu in a conversation window: Tools > Show Toolbars > Formatting

----

Third, the "small font" problem:
If you say "to other people" do you realy mean many people or just one particular contact?
If it appears very small to a lot of people than I have no idea what the cause could be.

Could it be that she has done the opposite to most people and zoomed in on the font making it bigger, rather than smaller. She then could have changed font size really small to fix it and just forgot about it

Thanks for your reply, she has sorted the emotion problem. Thanks for that :)

And yes the font appears small to many contacts but looks normal to her.

nope, you can't zoom the font in a conversation window like you can in MSIE (that I know of).

Maybe she is using a non-standard font, I had similar problems with contacts using certain fonts that look OK to them, but extremely small to other people.

yep, but that isn't a permanent setting like it is in MSIE. Closing the conversation will reset the 'zoomed' size again to what is set in the font size preferences of Messenger. :(

strange stuff...

I hate to say it but maybe a complete reinstall of Messenger maybe?
