The Fantasia Festival: lots of movies to see this summer! by Patchou on 07-09-2009 at 08:10 PM

Hello,

It’s that time of the year again! for the third time, Messenger Plus! is proud to be part of the Fantasia Festival, organized in Montreal, Canada from July 9th to July 29th 2009. If you live in the area and like sci-fi, epic films, twisted Asian comedies and many other kind of strange movies, Fantasia is the place you’ll want to be this summer. Also, because we’re sponsoring the festival, we got free tickets to give away! All you need to do is be among the firsts to send an email to letsgotofantasia@msgpluslive.net and you’ll receive a pair of tickets, redeemable at the box office for the movie of your choice. Just include your full name, full address (including postal code) and a note telling us how much you want those free tickets. Of course, like every year, I will be seeing a dozen of movies myself; if you’re interested in meeting, send me your movie schedule and we’ll see if our choices match :-).

This year, Messenger Plus! presents The Divine Weapon. This Korean movie takes place in the 15th century and is guaranteed to satisfy if you like epic battles, people who die and moustaches. Screening times, trailer and more information about the movie can be seen here. Of course, the movie will be presented in its original Korean language with English subtitles. The Divine Weapon was a smash hit upon its release this past fall in South Korea, and that’s hardly a surprise, given its engaging cast of characters, portrayed by some of the most renowned figures in Korean popular cinema at the moment, and of course its astounding action and battle scenes. A grand historical epic that never forgets to focus on the ordinary souls at the eye of the storm.

In addition to all of this, a free Fantasia skin for Messenger 2009 was added in the official skins database. As for the rest, because there’s still plenty to say and to show, you will have to be a bit more patient and wait for this weekend’s announcement. If you’re a Neowin reader, then remember to check this site as well!

See you there,
Patchou

I'll go see whichever movie you want me to see, I trust your judgment (Divine Weapon looks epic :p)

Is dinner too expensive in this economy (a)?

I am not going to Saskatchewan this summer so I'll be there

Email Sent :D

Congratulations again.

Since I can't come and see the festival, I wanted to see it in my Messenger so I downloaded the Fantasia 2009 skin. However the last update  information for the skin in the database seemed wrong to me:

Fantasia 2009 2.0.0

ahmetgns, you're right. MenthiX to the rescue? :)

RE: The Fantasia Festival: lots of movies to see this summer! by prashker on 07-09-2009 at 08:45 PM

Obviously the 2008 version was replaced with the 2009 version (screenshot, title, download link)...and the Last Update text was not (automatically/manually) changed :p

Here's the deal i made to patch, if we all go check out the movie together, and that it's me, my gf, you, patch and pouic-pouic, then dinner is me. (and your dad if he's coming too).

So we'll wait for the reply.

Actually it's 6 due to Sam's dad probably being there too.
But does that mean you accept the deal? :O

I don't think is OSX because he has said he would develop plus for osx is someone bought him a high powered mac system to test it on, this implies he doesn't already have one.

Deal, so I'll take care of the 6 of us, you take care of the rest!
Now which movie and what viewing are we going to?

RE: The Fantasia Festival: lots of movies to see this summer! by mathieumg on 07-10-2009 at 03:50 AM

I'll certainly be there, like the other years! :) Looking forward to see you again. Also, Sammy, don't forget what you promised.

I asked for 6 tickets so my dad and me could see 3 movies...we have to see atleast The Divine Weapon and support our Plus!. (Do you think they'd let us go on stage with shirts ?)

I'm up for anything and I'm uber flexible :p. I will be in Montreal Saturday to Wednesday this week, but nothing can happen then (and Divine Weapon doesn't play)

Iron out a schedule, and I will be there :p

Okay, Sammy, Patch.

What about the 23rd of July for the divine weapon at 6h30? (That'll be the thing that fits my schedule the best honestly).

Let me know as quick as possible, since I need to change a work shift.

Thank you!

RE: The Fantasia Festival: lots of movies to see this summer! by prashker on 07-16-2009 at 06:08 AM

so guys, I have coupons (thanks Patchou ), however I found out you can't redeem them online. I will be in Montreal again, but coming in ON the 23rd

I will exchange them for the non-meet times. However for the 23rd, someone is going to have to get 2 tickets for Divine Weapon :p (and we'll swap 2 coupons later)

CAN SOMEONE HALP US?! (Or maybe I can swap them the day of the movie, however that'd be taking a chance 8-))

Patchou is amazing  as usual ;-)
