itunes install help by YourNeibour on 08-12-2009 at 02:46 AM

I recently re-formated my PC with Windows XP Pro w/sp2 and i have everything up and running but i'm trying to install the latest Itunes...i got the installer from apple.com when I run the installer i don't get any errors or anything nothing runs.  What can I do to fix this?

try this,
make sure you have winrar,
rename the installer from ~itunes_installer~.exe to anything.zip
extract it with winrar
and run all the msi files individually

make sure you have installed all the latest windows updates first.  i think the itunes install needs .net framework (correct me if i'm wrong)

running msi files individually is a BAD idea as it's not a proper install process.

basically just make sure everything else is up to date....then re-download the installer (make sure it actually re-downloads rather than just using the cached one....clear your cache if necessary, or use filehippo.com or something) and then try running it again and tell us what happens

i tried install .net and still doesn't work..should I try re-formating?

have you upgraded to SP3 and done all full windows updates, including .net?

so you just double click the installer and NOTHING happens?

open task manager and go to the processes tab.......does the process ITunesSetup.exe run?

I havn't installed SP3...but I have ITUNES before on my XP w/sp2

You should always install all service packs and updates installed (unless for some reason they conflict with something on your machine)

it's not certain that this will solve the problem but it helps to eliminate one thing

also:

so you just double click the installer and NOTHING happens?

open task manager and go to the processes tab.......does the process ITunesSetup.exe run?

please answer these questions

RE: itunes install help by YourNeibour on 08-14-2009 at 03:23 AM

yes

RE: itunes install help by djdannyp on 08-14-2009 at 09:50 AM

Have you tried downloading itunes from an alternative location such as filehippo.com?

RE: itunes install help by YourNeibour on 08-14-2009 at 01:23 PM

yes I have, i've tried downloading it from 3 different locations besides the apple site and still the same.

Can't think of any logical cause for that :S

Seeing as you've only just reformatted it might be worth just doing another reformat.

First thing you should do (besides AV!) is get FULL Windows Updates done....then begin installing other software
