WDZ was trying to add thumbnailing for images, and it accidentally thumbnailed the entire internet

Good question, For some reason apache decided to crap out and kick the bucket. We're still looking into it.

i have a solution that will please everyone: call the software we're using now a "fork" of mybb rc2, and rename it "wdzbb"

Why don't you guys switch over this forum to a nginx+fcgi setup, it's a lot more stable and much, much faster.

DZ could be waiting for Mybb1.6 , he did do a lot on this board himself to secure it etc

i doubt he is waiting for that version, everyone was expecting him to do it with v1.4... but he didnt...

i believe 1.6 has a lot of Fix's in it, no real new major features. if you look on the mybb wiki site you can read about it

It is a fork, but it's still MyBB... changing the name might violate the license and/or upset the MyBB people... unless they want to distance themselves from this old thing.
Anyway, this is off-topic... Apache unexpectedly died, it was restarted, and it's fine now. =p
