when i sign into Windows Live Messenger, it completely freezes my computer, the only thing i can do is move the mouse
and then a blue screen comes up saying something about crash dumps
how do i get my Windows Live Messenger to work?

Windows, not Messenger 
as in Windows XP or Vista etc.
