PHILIPS Messenger Phone & Live Messenger issue. by CrimL on 10-27-2009 at 06:23 PM

Hi, I had this phone for a while now and have been talking to my relatives abroad for a while now. however, couple of days ago after I installed Windows 7 I started getting a weird error message. I hope someone can help me out here.

Her's what the problem is, whenever I try to call someone I get this message: "Not signed in to Windows Live Messenger" on the little screen of the PHILIPS phone, however I can see exactly who is online and offline, but I can't connect the call.

OS: Windows 7 Pro Upgrade.
Live Messenger: Version 2009 (Build 14.0.8089.726)
Fresh batteries charged to full.

Thank you.

I was hoping this wouldn't be the case, are you definitely sure about that?

That's what I thought myself, but I am hoping there might be a different problem.

I just remembered, there was some sort of an upgrade issue with Live Messenger while the initial install, I had to restart and than it was suddenly fixed. I'm gonna re-install Live Messenger to be on a safe side, though I can't figure out how to un-install it first, can't do it through the Control Panel and the installer doesn't have an un-install option, any suggestions?

In order to remove Windows Live Messenger you must remove "Windows Live Essentials" from the Programs & Features menu

That's the thing "Windows Live Essentials" is not in the Programs & Features menu, so I can't remove it that way.

What happens if you run the installer again?  Does it tell you that the Messenger component is installed?

Can you do a system restore to before you installed Windows Live Messenger?

Yea, it tells me that the Messenger is installed. And I can't do the System Restore because apart from AntyVirus Live Messenger was the first thing I installed after System Upgrade.

Try using ZapMessenger to remove Messenger and then re-install it

Thank you for the soft, I've re-installed Live Messenger and Device Manager, still getting the same error, I guess it's Win 7. I'll try running a second User in a Win XP SP2 mode to see if maybe that will work.

Sorry for a Double Post, but I need this to be noticed.

There is something new this time, I do seem to have Device Manager installed, and I have a Windows Live Call icon in my Start Menu (Which I didn't have before), however this is what I get when I try to Run it:
