Hey, i was wondering if anyone had encoutered the same problem as me and knows how to fix it, when i tried to log on to windows messenger today it said i need to download latest version to use WLM, so i clicked ok and then when it asks what i want to download it says messenger is already downloaded and yet everytime i try to use wlm it says i need to latest version and its just doing it over and over again

Can anyone help, i have tried to windows official help but it seem useless.

Well I didn't encounter like this, But try to uninstall WLM and reinstall it again. Maybe it will help you.
Download the set up of WLM file from Live Website and avoid downloding it from other websites.

thanks shining one, i tried this but then i just got into a world of hurt, and ended up just going back to a restore point it was just not totally deleting everything so some unknown reason. I dont know whats wrong usually updates fine!!

Try using ZapMessenger to remove all traces of Windows Live Messenger, then re-download it from here and try to re-install.
