A-Patch by Tiffanys on 11-29-2009 at 03:05 AM

It'd be nice if msgr plus was compatible with a-patch or at least included the features it has.

The main thing being disable photo sharing and remove ads.

If you could do that, I'd love you forever. As it is right now, I've had to uninstall messenger plus because photo sharing is too annoying to live with, but it sucks because I'm losing so many features by removing messenger plus. Like tabbed chats and the / commands and chat logs and hiding the messenger...

Sooo, hopefully you guys do this soon!

As far as I know Messenger Plus is perfectly compatible with A-Patch.

RE: A-Patch by Tiffanys on 11-29-2009 at 03:32 AM

Then that would make you incorrect. I've tested multiple times.

MSN -> A-Patch -> works
MSN -> MSG Plus -> A-Patch -> doesn't work*
MSN -> A-Patch -> MSG Plus -> doesn't work*

* = I am specifically referring to the changes done by A-Patch and the fact that they no longer work with the above scenarios. For example, the Photo Sharing. The two *'d methods do not preserve these changes.

Therefore, these two things are not compatible, as it pertains.

Are you using a skin via Messenger Plus?
If so then there is likely to be some issues because skins overwrite the resource files which A-Patch modifies. The skin maker may or may not include some (usually basic) patch options in the 'Skin Options' window.

Not that I know of, no.

RE: A-Patch by Chrissy on 11-29-2009 at 02:13 PM

It's worked fine with me and i've done that same as above.

RE: A-Patch by Tiffanys on 11-29-2009 at 02:22 PM

Well, it doesn't work for me.

Version number of everything?

(Plus!, Windows, Messenger and A-Patch)

RE: A-Patch by Tiffanys on 11-30-2009 at 10:21 PM

Plus: 4.83.372
Windows: Vista Ultimate SP2 (x64, everything is up to date)
Messenger: 14.08.8089.726
A-Patch: 1.43 (build 3)

Usually, that happens if you have any skin enabled, most probably your PC is shared and somebody installed a skin without your knowledge.
Why don't you try sending (!VER) in a conversation and pasting the result here?

RE: A-Patch by Tiffanys on 11-30-2009 at 11:41 PM

I am the only one that has ever used this computer, of that I am certain.

I have changed the skin of my messenger through the normal msn method... changing the scene's picture and color. But, nothing through Plus.

Tiffany says:
so like, ignore this message
!VER
(!VER)

It does nothing, I'm guessing it's a Plus feature. Like I said, I have that uninstalled right now. Every time I uninstall it I have to restart the computer too. But, I'm keeping all of my settings and stuff when I do uninstall, if that affects anything?

Edit: I reinstalled it just for you.

Windows Vista Ultimate x64 Service Pack 2 (6.0.6002)
Windows Live Messenger 14.0.0726
Messenger Plus! Live 4.83.0.372

Yes, (!VER) is a Plus! feature, asked you to use it because it tells you if there is any skin in use.

I don't know what more could conflict with A-Patch (if I use it without skins here, it works). Have you installed another plug-in or add-on?
(And there are no problems in keeping the settings)

RE: A-Patch by Tiffanys on 12-01-2009 at 12:02 AM

Okay, something weird is going on here...

It works now. There's a big bug though it would seem.

It seems like photo sharing is only disabled if the person sending you a picture has it disabled as well, but if someone sends you a picture that doesn't have it disabled then it sends with photo sharing.

RE: A-Patch by Volv on 12-01-2009 at 04:42 AM

That's not a bug, you have to recognise that photo sharing and file transfers are two independent features, if a user on the other end initiates a photo sharing session there is no way it can be converted into a standard file transfer.

The patch doesn't remove the photo sharing feature altogether, it simply makes it so that it doesn't initiate photo sharing when you (the local user) drags a file on. If another user initiates photo sharing then it will still occur.

RE: A-Patch by Tiffanys on 12-01-2009 at 04:47 AM

Is there any way around that? Can you force it to do file transfer instead of photo sharing?

If there is, nobody has discovered it yet.
