it used to be a little icon id just hold ctrl and double click to get back but now i dont know how to unhide messenger cause i upgraded to windows 7

Double click on the magnifier icon down on your tray bar.

It's still the same icon, it hasn't changed.
If you changed it to a different icon or different keyboard shortcut, you need to check in Preferences.
