Not receiving all messages by sinasdf on 02-10-2010 at 06:26 AM

Hi guys,

I'm resorting to help from you guys since Microsoft support fails on me.

For the past 2 months, I've been having troubles receiving messages from my contacts. It seems that their messages randomly do not get sent to me, even though they typed it.

Sometimes I'll have 30 minutes of no problems, and then I fail to receive messages after that for 2 minutes, and then maybe another 5 minutes of no problems, and on and on.

I was wondering if anyone else has experienced it, or if anyone has a solution for my annoying problem!

I should also note that while this is also going on, I have trouble signing in to MSN. I may try 3-5 log-in attempts but it won't let me. When I troubleshoot, it says that there is a problem with the Key Ports

"Failed to connect to the service. This could be due to improper proxy or firewall settings."

But my firewall is off and I have no clue what to do with proxy settings

maybe your antivirus if you have any is blocking their messages ):

try re-installing?

Like starlightcookie said, it's most likely something is blocking them. If you don't know what, boot into Safe Mode (with networking) to run your computer with no additional programs and see if the problem still occurs.

Also check your proxy settings: Tools > Options > Connection > Advanced Settings. The SOCKS And HTTP proxy settings should be blank. Run all 3 tests to see if they complete successfully.

Thanks guys, I'll try those things you mentioned.

Could it also be possible that a firewall with the router is blocking it? Is there such a thing?

Yeah, of course. If you can, test it without the router; unplug the ethernet cable from the router and put it directly into the modem.
