I don't get an automatic sign-in to messenger by jnulr on 03-03-2010 at 06:36 PM

Hello,

I've just recently got a new computer (laptop) with Win-7 and I've using "Windows Live Messenger".  Before Win-7 (ex-XP user), I was always able to automatically sign-in when I got an internet connection and I am currently unable to get this done.  I've double-checked that "Tools","Options" settings to make certain I had the right ones checked but to no avail.

Any ideas?

Info: I'm currently on the road with a fast "Cox" cable connection.

Thanks,

jnulr

What happens when you select the "Sign me in automatically" option?

Nothing!  I have to sign in manually even though I have checked the boxes to sign me in "automatically".  It simply results in a required "manual sign in".  I just want Messenger to be available upon sign in.

Go to "Tools" then "Options" then click "Sign-In" on the left and ensure that "Allow automatic sign-in when connected to the internet" is ticked

Already did that first thing.  That's why I posted this help message as it's not working.

Thanks for trying.

Maybe your internet connection is connected after the point msn has loaded?

Hi Krissy,

Not sure.  This is the first time we've had "wired" cable connectivty  as we live in a remote area of Oregon and have "satellite" Internet but maybe this is something more common with "cable modems"?

As I had eluded to earlier, we are traveling and currently have "Cox" cable modem.  It's certainly the fasted we've had in comparison but I thought perhaps this was just a problem with Win-7.

Not much I can do I guess.

It's not that big of a chore to sign-in each time I get on the internet but I thought I'd ask to see if anyone else had experience this.

Thank you,
