Laptop and autocad??? by bramble on 03-11-2010 at 09:41 PM

Need to buy a new laptop. Will be using for new business so want a decent one, willing to pay but don't want to get more than I need at the same time.
Will be used frequently for Autocad but only in 2d and nothing too complicated at that.

One option: Inspiron™ 17(N0075004)
Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor T9600 (2.80Ghz, 1066MHz, 6MB)
Genuine Windows® 7 Professional 64bit
6144MB 800MHz Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM [1x4096 + 1x2048] (with 64bit OS only)
512MB ATI Mobility Radeon HD4330 video card
320GB (5,400rpm) hard drive

Other option: HP EliteBook 8540p i5-520M Notebook
:Intel Core i5-520M,3 MB Cache, 2.40 GHz
Windows 7 Professional
Memory:2048 MB
2Hard Drive:250 GB
Graphics Memory:1024 MBWireless

Any thoughts or advice???

Not an expert as such but the first one looks the best by far.

If you're using it for buisness, a few things I'd recommend :
- get a 7200rpm hdd.
- if you can get a P processor instead of a T, it'll be a little better.

My honest suggestion is a thinkpad; I've fallen in love with them and their prices are not that expensive if you want for a sale..
