Can't Install by sniper207 on 03-23-2010 at 07:54 AM

I can't install WLM, Here is a screen shot of what it says.

What caused this was in CCleaner I used the "delete entry" feature for WLM because it kept showing me offline when I wasn't so I was going to delete and reinstall but when I try to reinstall it I get the above error. Any suggestions are welcomed.

Thank you

Using CCleaner to remove registry entries for WLM shouldn't cause the above to happen.

Try saving the installer then right clicking on it and choose "Run as administrator".  Also ensure that WLM/CCleaner is closed when you run it.

Failing this, a system restore may help you

Well I used the "delete entry" option in CCleaner and after that apparently WLM wasn't completely uninstalled or something so I tried a "Clean installation of WLM" and now all this is happening...

Btw I tried running it as an admin and it still says the same thing =/

Try using ZapMessenger to remove all traces of Windows Live Messenger, then re-download it from here and try to re-install

I actually did a System Restore to last night, And WLM seems to be working as of now. But for some unknown reason it shows me Offline to all my friends when my status is actually set to Available...Not sure if you know anything about that but it happened to my friend and myself earlier which is why I reinstalled in the first place. Any clue why it's showing me offline?

I think this is a wider ranged problem, I'm having the same problem at the moment.

It could be linked to the forthcoming new version of Messenger, that often results in these kinds of problems occuring with the existing version

Oh okay, so then there is nothing I can do?

No, at the moment you'll just have to sit and wait it out.  Apparently signing into a WebMessenger (such as via Windows Live Hotmail) can help people see you online.  But it's just a workaround, not a solution and by no means 100%
