New Sony Ericsson Advert On WLM? by Schnappi on 03-29-2010 at 12:41 PM

This is the first time I see advertisements popping out from WLM since I disabled/hid the normal advertisements through a legal skin hack.

This happens almost everytime I double click the WLM icon in my system tray area. What happens is after I double click the icon to open the messenger window, an advert pops up out of the messenger interface. This looks like a new advertisement gimmick on WLM?

Below are the screenshots of the advert I am talking about:

Is it just me or you guys are having it too?

There's no such thing as a legal hack to remove the adverts.  Removing the adverts violates the terms of use for Windows Live Messenger.

As for why the advert is re-appearing, I'd suggest trying to re-apply your skin patch and see if this helps with it.

The adverts on WLM haven't changed to my knowledge, it could just be different depending on what region you're in, but they should be the same as they always have been

If you are indeed using a skin, maybe it doesn't use the "correct" method when hiding the ad element?

Just reapply the skin or use another one that allows you to remove the advertisements.

Doing this is against the terms of use for Windows Live Messenger so you will not find any in the database.

I've used A-Patch to remove various parts from my WLM instead of skins (mainly the fact you can disable and delete skins).

If the skin 'hack' still doesn't work, use A-Patch and it will work 100% :).
