host file again by menoh on 04-04-2010 at 05:01 PM

Ok, I have the latest version of Windows Live Messenger
Version 2009 (Build 14.0.8089.726)

My computer is used by 3 people. 2 of them can easily sign into MSN, no problems. When I try to sign on, it says there is a problem with hostfile. I have gone to the hostfile folder, there are no hostfiles at all. After scanning my computwer, there are no hostfiles. I cannot even sign on to msn thru my hotmail, and at one point even had a problem to sign on via e-buddy.com. I have uninstalled and cleaned my computer, ran antivirus and antispyware, and still cannot get in.

HELP!!

You will find the hosts file in C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc

Can you open it with notepad and send the content? (Just copy and paste the text)

Update: you should see something like this

The host file is simply named "host", no extensions

You need to enable hidden files or directly go to the file.
