Messenger Plus Not Working - Printable Version

I recently followed Messenger Plus' advice about downloading the newest version, and it seems to be this that's stopped it working.

I've since tried reinstalling the previous version, and still no joy. I've uninstalled and reinstalled both normal Windows Live Messenger, and Messenger Live Plus. But again, Plus just isn't working at all.

Do you have any of the following software installed?

Messenger Plus! Live Disappears after restart

If not, then it's possibly related to a problem being reported recently. Problem with the download update?

If you choose "Plus!" then "About Messenger Plus!..." then what version number & release date does it show you in the top right hand corner of that about window?

The only thing close to any of the programs on that list is Windows PowerShell. Is that the same as MSNShell?

And the Plus version I have installed at the moment is 4.84.0.382

If I click on Plus!, and it says the softward hasn't loaded.

It gives no real information on it, only saying an error accured that prevented it from loading properly. And says I can try reinstalling or waiting for an update.

Well, I've tried all the reinstalling, and even installing an older version doesn't seem to fix the problem.

No, Windows PowerShell isn't the same as MSNShell so that won't be causing the problem.

Also, please try to keep your posts to just one thread on the subject, otherwise people may be trying to assist you in two locations and although it seems to be that same problem, there's no need to repeat what you've said, I just linked that other thread so you could read about it

Ok, i'm having the same problem here.
Im using WLM Version 14.0.8117.416 & WLM Plus Version 4.84.0.382.
Messenger is installed fine, but its as if Plus isnt even there.

Anyone have a solution to this ?
I've tried various things, including removing everything to do with WLM, trying a different version of plus & a different version of WLM.

I'm on dial up so i'm getting a bit fed up of having to download the files needed all the time.

Any help is appreciated.

Hello,

thanks for the detailed report. In the latest update of Messenger Plus!, it's mostly the setup that was modified. The fact that we're using the newest version of Visual Studio may be a factor for this problem though.

The easiest thing for me to do is to work directly with the people who experience the issue. If you see some, please ask them to send an email to support@msgpluslive.net with a quick explanation of what they're experiencing. I'll send them a debug version and I'll be able to work on a possible fix from there.

There is no exe, Messenger Plus! Live opens automatically with Windows Live Messenger.

If you aren't seeing the icon on the contact list then please check the following thread:

Messenger Plus! Live Disappears after restart

If you don't have any of those and it shows up as "Not loaded" when you click the "Plus!" item in the menu, then e-mail to support@msgpluslive.net and Patchou will send you a special debug version to work on a fix
