Skins no longer have custom backgrounds in options panel by SuperSonic on 06-19-2010 at 02:46 PM

Recently noticed that Messenger Plus! Skins no longer have their custom backgrounds for the options windows. By this, I mean the options for that specific skin. I had a little look inside the Plus! Skins folder, and the two I am having problems with both still contain the actual image that is supposed to be the background. I presume a recent update has broken this?

I noticed this as well.  Although they seem to work if you have the particular skin enabled.

Can you be more specific? Which skin are you using and which part exactly is not working (screenshot?).

The last update didn't change anything to the skinning engine, but the move to VS2010 could cause unpredictable bugs.

I have Stealth enabled currently, and this is what appears when I open the skin's options:

It's pretty obvious something's missing.

And this is the file that should be displayed on the options, which I know from past experience (I hope I didn't break any rules by uploading this; it's directly from the skin folder):

Another example is that of Crystal EVO.
Options panel I get: [Image: crystalevooptions.th.png]
Image in skin folder (Once again, witnessed from experience): [Image: bkg01.th.png]

I could try with another skin, but I'm guessing two is evidence enough. Stealth was recently installed, but I had the exact same version of Crystal EVO working fine on a pervious version of Plus!.

The picture on the options window on my own skin still works okay, even with the latest version of Plus!

Have you got the skin enabled?  The backgrounds seem to work if you do.

Actually, if you use one skin with an options window backgrounds, then open a different skin options window, I get the background of the enabled skin, not the one I'm adjusting the options of.

I don't have it enabled here at work and checking the options of it shows the picture fine.....the skin I'm using at the moment doesn't have options, so I can't check that part out

Hm, enabling the other skin (Crystal EVO) didn't fix the problem either.

I have this problem too. I have Zero-G enabled and here I also don't see a background in the main window, only in the about window.

Yeah, I just confirmed it is this verson. I recently updated and downgraded to and from WLM 2010 beta (Wow, it sucked bad), and after the reinstallation of 2009, I installed Messenger Plus! 4.82. I tried the options panel on the same skin I have enabled, and it was there. After updating, it was gone.

This problem is due to a new Messenger Plus build. For every new build of Messenger Plus! developers have to edit their skin info file and add compatibility for the new build in.

<PlusSkin>
        <ResGroup>
            <PlusVersion Major="4" Minor="84"/>
            <InterfaceDir>PlusWindows</InterfaceDir>
        </ResGroup>
</PlusSkin>

Also, Zero-G does not use a custom options panel design. It just uses a custom about window. Same goes for any of my other skins.
