Importing Contacts issue by Crisco3002 on 07-01-2010 at 01:59 AM

Recently made a new email, and imported my old contact list but 7 people of 400 got the invitation, I confirmed this by asking the majority online and no one received it.. I've deleted every contact and re-imported the list about 15 times with no luck? I've even added every email to windows live mail contacts  and then tried to see if there was a conflict, again no luck.. Anyone ever experience this issue or know of any way to work around it? Any help would be greatly appreciated, tried googling this issue all day.. Thanks in advanced

edited, bad grammar lol

New edit: Reinstalled MSN now the option to import contacts from a list is gone... can this get anyworse, reinstalled 5 times..

New info: My friend said he got the invitation on "Friends" in windows live mail? when i imported contact lists, he never got the invite on msn messenger,  he had to open his browser to accept?

That's unfortunately because in the newest build the option has been removed, so you will need to obtain the slightly older one. Read Jonathan Kay's post about it here.

You can download the 8089 build here, which has the import/export option.

In regards to your main problem, I'm lost for ideas I'm afraid, I would have thought I'd work fine.

Yeah I had the same problem too. Just face the fact that it has been removed, and re-add them manually (you will need to delete the contact first).

Just open the .ctt file with Notepad to copy and paste them :P

wow so ya just did 400 contacts by hand, and asked the people online if they got the invitation on the old email and still nothing.. jeeeez my clicky fingers tired. So its not allowing me to add contacts period now.

Edit : They can add me but i can't add them.

Same thing happened with me.

Just re-add manually. But then yeah, seeing your planning to add 400 contacts, good luck!

Can't he just sign into an old version of WLM and import the contacts. The sign-out and update messenger and have all his contacts?

i've tried this, i even tried doing it on msn messenger 7.5, but i guess its worth a shot again.

tried to add manually on 7.5 again no luck, asked contacts on old list if they recieved invites and no luck..

Have you tried deleting every contact from http://contacts.live.com then importing your contacts  into their rather than Messenger?

RE: Importing Contacts issue by Crisco3002 on 07-03-2010 at 05:36 PM

Yes ive tried this, all it does is, i can see their display pics beside their name, it says their "In messenger" but still they get no invites.

Also ive deleted the contact folder like hotmail specifies, and deleted certain registrys thought to be the problem nothin at all has worked

Post on the Windows Live Solution Centre in the People and Contacts section and a member of the Windows Live support team should reply. Make sure you include all the details and tell them you've already tried importing them into http://contacts.live.com as that will probably be their first reply.

You can also submit feedback about WLM here to report the problem.
