Can't update mpl by punto on 08-02-2010 at 01:32 PM

hello
i cant update messenger plus live
this is the error i get

i tried to kill the process of nod32 and i couldn't using windows 7 ultimate
it seems like It's not possible to kill the kernel process for security reasons.
but in xp i was just typing in run command taskkill /f /im egui.exe
and the process was killed
i also tried to disable the nod32 and still it wont let me update MPL
at first i couldn't install at all mpl from msgpluslive.net
lucky for me i had the installation in my hd so i used it and the AV somehow didn't cause me any problems. probably because it was older version.
i've read this discussion that was created week ago http://shoutbox.menthix.net/showthread.php?tid=95106
and i believe this trojan is one big bullshit and im 100% sure that mpl is totally clean.
anyway what can i do to get the updates? should i remove the antivirus and reinstall it later or what? 8-)
thanks

You're right, Messenger Plus! Live is totally clean form viruses.   Try reporting the file to NOD as being clean and hopefully they'll update their definitions eventually

You can temporarily disable NOD32 for its GUI which will allow you to install Messenger Plus!.

[Image: eset-nod32-disable-real-time-file-system-protection.png]

Afterwards you can delete the installer and re-enable NOD32 without being bothered by it again. Which is again showing Messenger Plus! is clean. If it really did install the malware which Eset is claiming it does then it should be able to find traces of it after installation. I see you are already agree it is clean, but if anyone else reading this wants more information or discuss it, see eset nod32 blocked messenger plus 3.85.

Download the latest version from the site manually and install that.

still can't update.. same block from nod32..
isn't there anyway to add the msgplus to whitelist or something?

Maybe hit "Disable Antivirus and antispyware protection" too? Otherwise go to advanced setup in that same menu and in the options under "Antivirus and antispyware" there is an "Exclusions" option, but I didn't need to use that.

when im doing "disable real time file system protection" from the advanced menu its automatically disable both antivirus and antispy protection and realtime file protection
anyway my solution was to download msgplus from my dedicated server where there is no av. then compress it to rar and download it via ftp :D
