script for checking mails on other mail accounts by Yustme on 10-02-2010 at 09:32 AM

Hi,

Is there a script which checks for mails on other accounts?
I dont wanna sign in on it, just check the mails.

I tried it in the settings of msgplus, but it fails the test.

Thanks in advance!

Messenger Plus! itself can check multiple mail accounts, you shouldn't need to write a script for it. Unless your mail provider doesn't provide POP3 access, but at that point writing a script for it will get a lot harder too.

What is your mail provider (@who.com)?

I already tried those settings. i got homail.nl, would that make a difference with the server?

Normally you should be able to use the same settings for all localized Hotmail domains. Just put your @hotmail.nl address as user name and see if it works. I tested it with my @live.com account and it appears to work properly.

but the test always fails, something about 'refused your information'

I never heard of a hotmail.nl e-mailadres...
Are you sure it's not hotmail.com??

My hotmail.be address works perfectly using the POP3 settings.

Yustme, are you sure you entered all the information (and your password) correctly? Like enabling the SSL security checkmark and entering the correct server port, exactly as Matti showed...

ya its crazy, i did all that exactly, i even typed my pass in notepad and then copied it into the passw field.

logging in via the webbrouwser works just fine. strange.

Hmmm... it could be that for some reason one of your security programs (anti-virus? firewall?) is blocking port 995.
Other than that, I don't have a clue, sorry.

What you could do is testing the POP3 access via Outlook, in case you have Outlook of course. See the next URL for instructions:
http://windowslivehelp.com/solution.aspx?solution...-bba6-8072406b3fb7
(ps: you don't need to install Outlook Connector as suggested though)

Or, if you have Outlook Express:
http://www.windowslivehelp.com/solution.aspx?solu...-9cdf-172002d4194c

If those fail too, then all you're left with is making a post on the official Windows Live Solution Center > Hotmail:
http://windowslivehelp.com/post.aspx?productid=1&...t.aspx?productid=1
And aks why you can't access your Hotmail account via POP3.
