RE: the new windows live messenger 14.0.5027 doesn't work with msg plus?? by mateusmatiasmm on 10-19-2010 at 09:14 PM

I encountered the very same problem after being asked to update to Windows Live Essentials. It is not possible to find the previous version on the official website, unfortunately, and Plus! doesn't work with the Essentials - in my computer, it displays a message: "Software not loaded." Expanding the window, it says:

"An error ocurred which prevented Messenger Plus! from loading properly. You can try loading the software or wait for an update to be available. More information and help available online: http://www.msgpluslive.net"

Essential is accursed. And we who have installed it are all damned. :S

If (on Windows Live Messenger 2011, make sure you download the latest - 15.4.3502.922 - from http://explore.live.com/windows-live-essentials ) after installing Messenger Plus! Live 4.9 you run into “software not loaded” (check under Plus! in the menu), click on “Software not loaded”. You will then be presented with a notification in which you can disable safe mode. If you do so the software will be loaded. Should you run into problems with safe mode off, reset your preferences in the Maintenance Wizard which will be started if you start the uninstaller (Programs and Features).

Hallelujah! õ/

Thanks to V@no, I didn't know it was still possible to download the previous version of Messenger. I've already gotten rid of Essentials - get out of my life, damn thing! - and now I'm back to my so-loved Live 2009.

Could it be any better? :D

I'm really grateful, guys. See you around ;)
