extra, empty icon in the task bar by maxelcat on 10-23-2010 at 12:19 PM

Hi

I updated to windows live messenger 2011 yesterday. I run windows 7.

Now I find that when my pc boots up I get two icons in the task bar. One is the normal messenger icon like I'd expect. I also get one that has the "can't find the icon image" (hope you know what I mean). If I click on this nothing happens. If I hover over it then "Windows live messenger" pops up. My task manager doesn't show messenger in the applications.

Apart from looking weird its making me nervous. Something isn't right.

Anyone got any ideas please?

thanks

Edward

Did you have messenger pinned to taskbar when you updated? If yes simply unpin the icon, start Messenger from the program list and pin that one instead (if you haven't done so already and do want mesenger pinned there).

What I expect to have happened here is that it's a leftover icon from previous Messenger version which it couldn't delete.

The same thing happened with me in Windows 7.

You just have to delete the old icon and pin the new one.
