Hi,

the default sound is not playing when i receive an instant message. i got version 2009. this problem i have is quit old now. its annoying now that i dont receive a sound notification.

i went through the options checking all the options out. nothing worked.
what am i missing?

if i play the default sound, i dont hear it. its like its blank or something.

Is It just the deafult sound, or is at all sounds in Messenger?

Also check If the sound it set:

Open Tools > Options > Sounds. Under 'New instant message' set it to 'Default'.

Press play to see if it plays, also click Apply and it should be working.

Try to change the sound file yourself into something you hear, then try again if it is played in Messenger itself.
