Learning UNIX by Horseboy on 04-18-2011 at 08:18 PM

OK, so I plan on learning unix. Just installed Ubuntu on my Acer Aspire T660, gonna install freebsd on my old PowerMac G4 PPC. After that, I'll learn bash, I've seen really cool things made with it (my friend is a bash "programmer" (lol). He built a link checker for a (pretty) famous iOS app database (piracy related, so I'm not sharing links or names) which I also used to work for (moderator-wise). He also made a simple IRCd out of bash (and services but they weren't very secure). So yeah, bash seems cool. Do you think it would help me on my programming path?

Just like to add I purchased a book for n00bs (we're all newbies at something :P) on UNIX, shells, commands etc.
