MSN 2009 - Installing Problem by Nightcookies on 01-05-2012 at 03:03 PM

Hello,
A while back I had a problem with logging in to Windows Live Messenger 2009. I had an error code and I looked it up on the Internet for possible solutions. Nothing worked. Then, frustrated and impatient, I removed all the files I could find that had to do with MSN with the intention to install the whole thing again. Problem is, when I tried to do that the installer program thought I already had installed it, and it simply won't install it again, while I don't have it anymore at all. I tried to remove even more left-over files with a program but that didn't help either. A few weeks before this all happened I installed Messenger Plus and the error code showed up straight after it auto-updated. It's all my own fault but I really don't know what to do, I really want to get back to MSN, what should I do?

ZapMessenger should help you out to reinstall here.

I cant get rid of the upgrade. it starts automatically. Even when i uninstalled msn, and then tried to install an older version, the update process starts automatically. and when i click cancel in the update window, it restarts in a second... it has to be some other program that starts the upgrade, that is not connected directly to the msn, cause then it would probably have dissipated when uninstalling....

Assuming you've removed Live Essentials 2011 in Programs and Features, you can do a manual install of Messenger 2009 by downloading and running two MSI files:

The 2009 contacts platform
Messenger 2009
