Shoutbox

I have a contact that we both have downloaded and installed Messenger Plus (forSkype) but when trying to send a wink or sound, we both get the pop up stating 'So and So does not have messenger plus for skype and can not use this feature.  We both have installed it, why is it that we can not use it?

Please someone  help us with this?
