Are there any suggestions for the translation?

I for one, would make the following alteration, but it is kind of a big alteration so I ask you dutch people if I should do this:

These textlines are almost always too long to view them nicely in the eventslog-window (unless you set your window to the width of your screen or something, or you use your horizontal scrollbar, etc...). Also, it's mostly a pain in the *beep* to see with a quick-look and without using the scrollbars what's going on in the eventslog-window cause of the length. So I would like to shorten them. (I like the last -shortest- one, it's clear, nice and to the point, like an eventslog should be ):

I would go for the longest one. I just like to have things as clear as possible, and I don't mind long sentences for that one.

I mean, the shortest one doesn't even tell you what is going on anymore ("has changed"). So I'd go for the longest one; it will be nice and visible in the log file of the Event Log Viewer. That's what is most important to me.

no change, because the other ones seem so cold + distant the longest one is just friendy to people, I like it the way it is...

Just leave it as it is, The longest is the most clear and most easy to understand...

I like it as it is... It's more clear And I agree with KnightieBoy, it's way friendlier in the longest one... So, my vote is for the normal one, unchanged

Well I think it is just the opposite. often (almost always) you CAN'T see the whole line in the eventslog-window. (especially when name-changes occure).

Sure it does... First when something is added to the eventslog-window it IS because of a change. Second you have to see the whole picture, not just the lines above... In the eventswindow you have also a column with the contacts name before the eventcolumn... It IS clear enough...

No arguments there... (although I like the "cold" -I call it SHORT- look for the eventslog -only!, cause for all the rest it's nice to see "friendly" explenations-)

Maybe in the case of "Naam: %s", but that can be "Nieuwe naam: %s" for that matter. All others seems very clear enough for me...
Remember that an eventslog is all about changes...!

Outch... Have you ever seen the logfile? I always have to scroll at least 1 window to the left in notepad to see what's going on... (screenres: 1024x786 and normal fonts!) And if I set wordwrap on, it's just a complete mess.... Remember that most contacts have very long names which already take up a whole screen when viewing in notepad (or any other texteditor for that matter).


So IMHO, the arguments are not solid or thoughtrue. Only KnightieBoy had a good argument. But it is a matter of opinion what you like, so... I'll change nothing for the release, but I will use the shortest one for personal use then...
(PS: It just seems like everyone is affraid of change -errr... never mind this- )

But what about the "shorter" one then? a compromise between the two. Only "Contactpersoon" -the subject- is removed which makes the lines shorter but -using the arguments- still keeps them understandable? (IIRC, one of the previous translation had this also)

Sure I have
I've got 800x600 and wordwrap on, and a nice and decent font (size). I still think it's better. It's not like you go read it like a book, and the moments I do need to find something, I like this better.

That's just the point for me, it is almost a book when you view it (amount of text). And it searches easier IMO if the amount of text is truncated (WITHOUT losing information afcourse). anyway... I'll do the same -shutting up-

The shorter one seems like a bad 'thing in the middle'. On a scale from 1 to 10, I'd give the longest one a 10, and the shortest one a 9. The thing in between doesn't look very nice to me, because, personally, I see it as an unfinished sentence. When I read that kind of sentences, I always have some sort of 'sentence only half finished' feeling.

The shortest one looks better to me; it gives just to the point information, not a half finished sentence. Just as you already said, it's very personal.
