RE: no sound!!
Try the obvious stuff:
- Check the volume.
- Check the cables.
- Check with another speakers or headphones.
- Does media players programs look like they are playing music (no errors are shown)?

If you have Windows 2000/XP:
- Go to Control Panel > Sound devices > Audio, do your sound devices appear there?
- Right-click My PC > Properties > Hardware > Device Manager, is everything OK (no warnings)?

If you have Windows 9x:
- Go to Control Panel > Multimedia, do your sound devices appear there?
- Right-click My PC > Properties > Device Manager, is everything OK (no warnings)?

Have you changed anything recently? (installed/uninstalled any program?)

Have you tested other speakers?
Do you listen to loud music?

Go to Start > Run > Type in "sndvol32.exe" and then see if one of the bars on the top of the volume controles is balenced to the left or right more than the other, If it is move it to the middle. That happens to me every once in awile
