My friend had told me that Microsoft is working on MSN 10, i've seen the screenshots. It will probably be ready for public in september. What i would like to know is it true? If yes, then why skip 8 and 9?

You are most likely confused with "MSN Explorer" and "MSN Messenger", both made by MSN.

MSN Messenger is the product we use to chat with others. The latest non-beta version is 6.2 and the latest beta version is 7.

MSN Explorer is a different product, see http://explorer.msn.com for more details. It's possible that version is upto 10 by then (it's upto 9 now if I'm not mistaken)

isn't to hard to make some screen shots that look real !!

there are some for msn messenger 8 floating around aswell as lots of other fake pictues on the internet, eg picture of the new playstation/xbox all of which are fake but look real

weren't they the screen shots they posted for messenger 7 ???

no i think they were the messenger 8 actually but they were proven fake (as far as i remember)

That's a screenshot of the concept design for messenger 8 and hotmail wave 11.
It was made by a freelance artist i think and is his concept not what it will look like, i think.
Although the concept for messenger 7 turned out to be pretty acurate
But its unlikly that messenger 8 will be released when 7 isnt out of beta yet.

Please, read what toddy said. Anyone with lots of patience can do that and more.

As Tochjo said, the lastest non-beta version is 6.2 and the public beta (testing) version is 7.

This is called a concept. It is an image of what someone thinks the next version will look like.
