O.P. Question about P2P Programs
What exactly is legal to download from these programs? Music is apparently illegal now in the U.S anyway but what about videos? I'm not exactly talking about full movies but like music videos and television shows. Are they legal?

Someone just explain the legal & illegal things for me plz.

well i guess things are only legal to share if the files themselves have been deemed legal for distribution by the owner/creator

Yes, they both are. The MPAA (motion picture association of america) recently sued 6 tvtorrent sites including www.btefnet.com (one of the biggest tvtorrent sites out there with a supposed 40,000+ users)

Unless the program is open source/free or unless the author consents to it, no.

RE: Question about P2P Programs
the debate is over weather the program is illegal. Napster was shutdown becuase they were providing the files and a network. limewire and kazza just supply a program and the users do what they want with it. Downloading music ect is illegal but the program is legal

Well I see no sense in having a legal program to download illegal stuff.

The legal program can be used to d/l legal content, like opensource, free, public domain, trial, etc stuff...

of course, such P2P programs are mainly (ab)used for illegal content...
