Microsoft Avalon then.
It's a technology in Windows Vista. Most application windows are grabbed as textures live. The desktop is also an interactive texture. It's all displayed in a 3D accelerated environment in realtime. The workspace isn't bitmap anymore, its a DirectX environment.
