Just a quick question.

How comes 'S' for Strike isn't on the toolbar when you post a message, along with bold, italics and underline ?

Because those fancy buttons and stuff are slow to load. Hence why the reply page has been stripped down.

To switch to the more advanced (but heavy) reply page you need to set your settings in your control panel like that...

Other Options > Hide the MyCode inserters? > "No"
(This option will show/hide the myCode inserters on posting & editing forms so they load faster)

------

All this have been done long ago in the past because of the loading of images which could/can take a long time and thus slowdown the loading of the reply page.

See this thread for example (out of many others which were dealing with it at that time): "Quick Edit?"

Sorry, I don't think I made myself clear.

I have the 'MyCode inserters' enabled. What I ment was, why isn't STRIKE on that toolbar? Yet you can still use [s] and [/s] to do a strike.

Cookie made it pretty clear in his post:

It's not a very widely used format anyways, so adding it there would simply increase the load of the servers on the forum, as the format buttons etc. are made up of several images and drop down boxes and take a longer time to load if there are any more... Hence the reason why several formats etc. are kept to a minimum.

If you go to User CP > Edit Options, then scroll down to the "Other Options" area and check the "Yes" radio button, then press apply. Go to "Post Reply", and you will see the difference in the loading time!

I don't know about you, but as I read this thread, I get the feeling he wants a strikeout button added. So pushing the 'stripped' reply page isn't helping.

Yeah, although I really don't see a need for it. If you know the MyCode, then what's the point of having a button?

Why isn't it there in word?  Why isn't there a countdown tag?  Why isn't there X, why isn't it Y?  -- We really don't need a button for everything.

There aren't tags like that in Word as it's designed for a totally different purpose. A forum post page would find a strike button useful, since very few people on the board know MyCode, and may wish to 'cross things out' in an edit.

I'm not advocating a button for everything: that's stupid. I was just trying to clarify what the original poster wanted answered.
