Both in performance and upgradeability. However, nothing beats computing on the move, and a laptop is ideal for that. Modern laptops (and for $2000 you'll get a good one) are really quite powerful beasts now.

Are you looking for a small laptop to make it really easy to move around or more for a desktop replacement? I personally find the small ones too small but that's because I have big fingers
We need to know the kind of things that you are after in a computer before we can go around recommending anything.
