This isnt possible unless you use a crack which is illegal. i wouldnt use one of them, i tried  and it fucked it up.

Some games can run fully off a hard disk, and I know for a fact that Unreal Tournament games eventually get an official No-CD patch, direct from Atari.

Not really.
Some games can run if the original CD's ISO is mounted on a virtual HDD.
A game that I know that allows you to play it if the iso is mounted on a virtual drive is Warcraft III (both RoC and TFT)

There is also a program called GameJackal that allows says that you can play your game without a cd, but I dont know if this really works and if this is legal...
YouTube closed-captions ripper (also allows you to download videos!)

RE: No Cd's
One method I have used in the past: Save ISO images of the CDs onto your HDD, then use software to create a virtual CD drive and manage the ISOs (I use Alcohol 120%), though IIRC there WAS a small free one released by MS.

However, there are drawbacks to this method (such as having to have extra software running in the background), and as Dazmatic pointed out most games will have some sort of copy protection on the disk, which will require extra workarounds (such as cracks).

I'm not sure about the whole legality of this though, so I won't go into more detail here, but a google search should help ;)

Meh you can get fixed images form a number of websites, its not illgeal if you own the game and purchased it legally, you simply replace the exe in the directory with the one you download,

Try www.megagames.com The link on the left to pc fixes should help you find it!

If you use a virtual drive then you still have to load the disk image which is just as much work as putting the CD in a real drive :P
And the disk image can take up lots of room. But it is legal, whereas a crack isn't.

I don't know about Alcohol 120%, but most programs that create a virtual drive automatically work around the copy protection. Daemon Tools, the one I use does anyway.

You're permitted to make a single copy for backup purposes ;)
