I wanted to report this, what I think is a bug. It has happened to me since I upgraded to Messenger Plus! 4.xx. I'm almost sure it has nothing to do with my computer, as I have formatted the whole HDD and set all programs up again and it still happens.
When I set some contacts to show on the desktop they start displaying properly, but as those users change their usernames, the username displayed dissappears and is replaced by a "1". The only way to get back the proper contacts' nicknames is by signing out and back in or closing WLM and running it again (the program I mean, not just the contacts list window).
I attach some screenshots below, as they show pretty clearly what happens.

BTW, if my pc's config matters, it's as follows: P IV 530 (@3.00 Ghz), MoBo Asus P4P800-SE (NB: Intel 865PE, SB: Intel ICH5R), 512 MB DDR 400, XFX5200 128MB 64 bits, HD 80GB 7200RPM 2MB cache. It's running a Windows XP SP2 with all updates from Windows Update installed. WLM = 8.0.0812 MsgPlus!= 4.01.240. No other addons for WLM are installed.

Have you got the latest version? 4.01.0.240?

The newest version didn't fix this bug sadly.

This is a known bug and there's nothing that can be done right now except wait for it to be fixed

i have same problem but it is not just "display contacts on desktop" problem. I have this problem at my contact list even my nick changes to "1".

I have another problem with "display contacst on desktop". When the contact changes his/her status, it changes on contact list but it doesn't change on desktop

don't worry, that will be fixed soon in 4.02.
