basically what i thought would be usefull was like a Character Map for symbols like degrees and squared etc, that you could bring up in Windows  Live Messenger to select symbols to paste into WLM, as its annoying having to go to charmap to get them if you need them,

and maybe some either regular (or customisable) shortcuts for certain things like [tm] for the trademark symbol, or [deg] for degrees etc...

if anyone gives this a go, its most appreciated, cheers

This is already possible with Plus!'s Quick Text feature.

Plus! > Preferences > Conversations tab > Quick Texts and click the "Add..." button on the right hand side.
Here is an example of what to enter in this window:
