By what I said, I meant *MY* router was like that. Most aren't by default tbh.

As for living in the middle of nowhere... I'm sure if you use the pringles tube method with a signal booster, you can actually get signals in the range of a mile. [Searches for link... gah didn't bookmark it.]

I've also noticed that most of the WiFi networks in my scan radius have recently become protected - probably because we had a party about two months ago where I brought my PSP out and started using some of the guests internets :p.

yep. and 3 miles at least with a sat antenna... tried it myself.

I still don't see why WEP is industry standard, I believe WPA is easier to use as well :P.

I have the same setup as Sam, I am the only one within range of myself who has a wireless network.

Occasionally this dodgy unsecured network pops up but the signal is way to weak to connect.
