O.P. Who knows the big picture - I need hotmail at work
I had been using outlook and set it up to download my email from hotmail.  That means I paid for the premium service.  Everything worked perfect until...they expanded their websense filtering so that we can't get email at work!  I cannot even hit the hotmail site.  The download through outlook appears to work at first as it downloads some header information (name, subject, etc) but the body of the email is overwritten by the websense default denial message.  MSN messenger won't login though I could care less about that.  What are my options on making this email work?

The only way I know to do it is to get another computer and leave it on at home and then remote into it.   I have verified that this will work but I prefer not to have to buy another pc for this.

Your best option is to talk to your boss and/or the IT people at your workplace.  It's possible your company never cared about blocking email in particular, just put the software or appliance in with a default policy.  What Websense blocks is fully configurable by the administrator.  It can be easily set up to permit popular email services while still blocking porn sites, for example.

If email blocking is intentional (perhaps because they think employees spend too much time on personal email), then I'd suggest not even looking for ways around it if you value your job.

Other than that, if you have a suitable mobile phone, I believe Hotmail offers some form of mobile access.

I work in IT at the company.  I am not worried about getting into trouble.  The powers that be decided to administer everything the same for everyone.  I can't go into details but there were good reasons they did it for some and have no easy way to setup the network so that it is permissible for others.  Looking for options...

From Windows Live Hotmail's Options page
Options > Forward mail to another e-mail account

Forwarding
You can forward your mail to one other e-mail address that ends in hotmail.com, msn.com, live.com, or custom domains. You'll receive an e-mail at that address asking you to verify your account.

     Don't forward
Forward your mail to another e-mail address
Type the e-mail address you want to forward the mail to:

Example: username@domain.com

If you don't have difficulties accessing other mail services through your web browser or mail programs like Outlook Express, you can forward your messages in Hotmail to them.

you could set up an ssh tunnel on you pc at home and retreive your email over the tunnel, using either the web interface or something like thunderbird, works for me
