It should be
"...Messenger Plus! skins don't patch Messenger, they load the resources into memory, making your skins easy for people to use..."
or some such

It's actually fine how it is, as long as there is a comma before "but"

I like the rewording of that, but punctuation is wrong for the same reason as the thread that's going in the translation forum at the moment. In this case, I would say a hyphen ("Messenger - they") would be best.
