O.P. Huh?  Fuel-Efficient Cars
Bearing in mind that I live in British Columbia, Canada, a place where it doesn't snow a lot and has predominantly good weather (rains a fair bit though, but the roads are good).

I was wondering if you guys have any recommendations for fuel efficient cars, something that will last me a while and my budget for this is around $10 000.

i couldnt really find anything for that cheap, it would mean loads of searching, which i might do when im not busy but, if you want to save money in the mean time or with your new car try these links. it is common sense, but its often forgotten about and although you may not notice the difference in the short term, it'll help you to save fuel and your car could last longer..

and when I said "fuel-efficient" what I meant was something that is easy on my wallet.

Right now, I was kinda considering a Matrix. If you guys have any other suggestions let me know :).

I dunno what it's like in Canada, but after I spent last week comparing European to American cars, I would recommend getting an import - even if it does mean sitting on the wrong side of the car.

I heard an American boasting that his Prius Hybrid gets 42mpg. My Starlet - which is 10 years old - gets 42mpg. As does my mum's Suzuki Swift. It just seems that you guys have laxed your carbon emissions since your fuel prices were so damned low.

fuel-efficient? Small new (for the european market) cars....

But it especially depends on how you actually drive; that can make a very huge difference....

Not many options for that budget....

Actually, a Jetta can give 29-30mpg, which is about the same mileage the Matrix provides

A lot of people seem to be getting the Toyota Yaris for fuel efficiency, it doesn't look bad either.

Dear God.

My dad's 2.2L Vectra gets 41mpg. :|

I believe the Ford Focus gets a decent mileage, dunno what it's like over the pond though.
