O.P. Safely remove hardware icon missing
For some time now, the safely remove hardware icon doesn't show up at all. It hasn't been a recent problem but I've just lived without it seeing as its not really a needed function but I kinda wanna fix it. All of my USB drives work 100% so its nothing wrong there. I've checked the taskbar properties to see if it was hidden but it wasn't. How can I fix it? Google isn't a big help.
I'm running Vista Ultimate SP1

right click the taskbar, go properties. Then open the "Notification Area" tab. Click the customize button on the right.

This will then bring up a list of items that have appeared in the notification area. From here you can find Safely Remove hardware and set how it behaves (i.e making it always show, hide when inactive or permanently hide).

Also if it doesn't appear then you can just go My Computer > right click on the disk drive > eject.  Just another option....

Yeh I know all about that. I know I can just pull it out but I just kinda wanna have it there lol.
With my external hard drive it doesn't give me the option to eject so I have to pull it out.
