I'd never buy domain registration and hosting from the same place. The way I like to do it is I own and manage my domains and have the hosting provider just host. That way, if they suck or happen to go out of business, I can point my domain elsewhere in a matter of hours and I need no cooperation from them to do it.
name.com is an excellent registrar. I have no hosting suggestions, since I have my own private arrangements for that.
I shall keep that in mind, was the first time I invested in any domain or host, so  gotta start somewhere...

Personally I've used namecheap and Dreamhost, been hosted by Dreamhost for two years and although it's not the cheapest I can't complain, service hasn't let me down nor anything else really.

Same here. I've been using Namecheap + Dreamhost for almost 3 years. No complains at all. |
