O.P. Audio/MP3 player software?
I have been using Winamp ever since I played my first MP3. All that time I never really looked at other players. Now that I am running a fresh Windows 7 installation, why not take a look if there's something I like better.

I tried Songbird, which in theory is great:
* Open source
* Nice add-ons
* Good library features
* Last.fm integration
* Smart playlists
...But after importing around 35000 songs to the library is becomes quite slow for various actions and consumes a lot of RAM. By default it doesn't show a regular playlist like Winamp does either. There is an add-on for a regular playlist, but that one is buggy. Too bad because I would really like this player if it was stable and lower on resources, hope they keep improving it.

Which audio player do you use/recommend?

I use WMP simply because it very well with win7 and I love the layout. On my last computer, I used winamp (because WMP would keep on taking up 2gb of ram), but i never liked winamps layout.

iTunes for me, I used to use Winamp but a while after I got my first iPod I switched to iTunes because Winamp wasn't playing nicely with it...and I've never looked back.

I tried Songbird once, but it damaged most of my tags (I don't know why or how, but it did).

I use iTunes, mostly because of my iPod, and due to high-res covers provided by iTunes Store.

Mediamonkey

me loves the monkey.

What are you looking for in an audio player?
I choose Mediamonkey for it's awesome music management. Also doesn't mess up for me on syncs.
I struggle to use anything else now as I'm hooked on its functionality.

Same, though I only bought the iPod because of iTunes =P

Used to use WMP, but it kept changing my songs names (I couldn't import Vangelis without it renaming it to Papa Roach). So a friend of mine showed his iTunes on his Mac, and I installed it on Windows later,

Has great playlist management, Genius works gorgeously, you can use the Remote iPhone app to control media playback too, it stores each playlist preferences separatedly, so if I like coverflow in a small playlist it will be only there untill I change it, downloads (the correct) album artwork automatically, has a nice format conversor (it will convert your songs to the same one you choose to use as default for CD imports, the default is 256kbps AAC), and there's a long list =P

The bad part is that its becoming slow with time, becoming kind of bloated, and has basically no skins.
Update: forgot that one :chrongue:

If it didn't force Quicktime and wasn't made by Apple (aka opened up more) I probably would have switched :(.

I use Winamp in docked/windowshade mode with the modern skin, it stays docked to the top of my secondary monitor. Only downside, it seems to crash whenever its running for a long time (3+ h)

I used both iTunes and Windows Media Player, but for specific reasons that iTunes organises my library and plays nice with my iPod, and Windows Media Player just keeps it's library updated from the iTunes music folder to allow my xbox 360 to easily read my music library when I'm piggybacking to xbox live...
