O.P. RE: Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime error
Menthix, after installing MsgPlus 5, I opened WLM without any problem (several times). But when I restarted the computer and tried to open it again, I got the same error. And whenever I try to open it, the message "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime error" pops up.

---

1. 2009 (build 14.0.8117.416);
2. Windows XP - 32 bits;
3. I was not using this new feature before and the error occurred. Earlier (when I reinstalled MsgPlus 5), I enabled it and the same error appeared. So I guess there's nothing to do with it;
4. No skin;
5. I'm not running Messenger in compatibility mode;
6. I'll remove A-Patch to make sure if there is or not a conflict with MsgPlus 5;

I restored the settings made by A-Patch and WLM still doesn't work.

Install the C++ redistributable.

I did.

Are you using any of these apps: SweetIM, Smiley Central, Kiwee, Messenger discovery, MSN Shell, GDI++, ThreatFire, PC Tools Spyware Doctor, Bandoo, HiYo, Kingsoft, Internet Security, AirFoil, MapleStory (MMORPG), BabylonIM? They have been known to cause problems in combination with Plus! in the past. Usually uninstalling these apps will make Plus! work properly.

I'm not using any of those apps.

Have you tried uninstalling Messenger Plus! -> Uninstalling Windows Live Messenger -> Re-install Live Messenger -> Re-install Messenger Plus!?

Yes.

Try the things listed in Arcticwolfx's reply to Msg Plus 5! Causing Crashes.

I already tried it all. And my system is clean; no spywares.

What is MSN Backup?

Have read their homepage, wonder if it could cause problems with Messenger Plus!

AFAIK it is a standalone tool. So it shouldn't interfear with Messenger, nor Plus!.
However, I dunno what 'stuff' the tool installs (or overwites) when you install it; that is, if it has an installer.

It's in the installed programs list. Wonder if any other users have the program.

MSN BackUp is indeed a standalone app which AFAIK doesn't bundle anything that could interfere.

What I find most interesting is:

When WLM did work that short time, are you sure Messenger Plus! was loaded too, did you see the Plus! icon on your contacts list?

If you want to help by experimenting a bit: If you try re-installing Plus! again, does WLM work again (for a limited time)? If it does, click on the Plus! icon in your contact list and go to Preferences & Options > Import/Export > Export Current Settings... and make a backup of all your settings except for:
* Features' Passwords
* External E-Mail Accounts
* Contacts' Settings and Statistics
This should make a backup of all your Plus! settings without revealing private information. You can then add the .pld file to a .zip file and attach it to your reply. I admit it's just a wild guess, but maybe it is some combination of Plus! settings.
Finish the problem

Yes. MsgPlus was loaded too.

I just removed MsgPlus and reinstalled it again. WLM started working. But I don't know if it will continue this way.

I'm attaching the file.

.zip File Attachment: MsgPlus Settings.zip (624 bytes)

O.P. RE: Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime error
Hi, again...

Well, since I installed MsgPlus 5 again, it was working fine, even after restarting the computer many times.
But I noticed something curious.

When I run a registry cleaner, it finds something related to MsgPlus 5.
(I'm attaching the screenshot).
I removed other invalid keys and unmarked the one that leads to "C:\Arquivos de Programas (Program Files)\Yuna Software\Messenger Plus!\Interface\Images" and WLM was still working like before.

When I ran the registry cleaner again and marked the above key and removed it, I got the Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime error. I guess that's the cause of the problem. :o

When I said that I got this error after restarting the computer, it's because sometimes I run the registry cleaner and restart my system.
If other users also use this kind of programs, try to execute it to make sure if this is the cause of the error. :^)
