O.P. PlusService.exe
Is there any way in the current version 5.10 to disable PlusService.exe without disabling update checking? I prefer MsgPlus to only check for updates when it's running.

Look for plusservice.exe and disable it.
But disabling it from startup likely also disables plus! ability to check for updates, which is the same as disabling auto-updating from plus! settings which also disables plusservice.exe.

Or maybe if I remove the startup entry for plusservice.exe manually will it start checking for updates automatically when plus! is ran like in version 5.02 and below?

Plus service doesn't check for updates. It is meant to check if Plus! has been removed by another application.

That is odd, Jieff never once admitted to it doing the update checking. We should just create a script that will do the update checking on Plus!.

Typical though... (http://download.msgpluslive.net/update/autoupdate.php)

The big problem is that Plusservice.exe is running all the time, even when it does not need to be running.

Or write a script which simply starts and stops the PlusService.exe when you start and stop Messenger.
