when msgplus is installed, it should register a protocol (like msgplusunlock:// or something) that launches mptools.exe with some parameter that makes it show a balloon in the notification area explaining how to unlock messenger. this would make it easier to help people on the forums and on IRC who accidentally locked their messenger without realizing it, as they'd just be able to click a link and then be directed to the icon they need to click -- e.g.:
newb: how do i unlock my messenger??/
me: click here

Or simply make the option disabled by default in the welcome wizard. It would solve a lot of issues. From all users seeking help in #msgplus, over 75% inquire how to unlock their Messenger. I believe this is a serious design flaw.

Just read your suggestion and I must say couldn't agree more. 
It would be very helpful if that window was there. Does Patchou have anything to say about it? Did anyone suggested it in the beta forums?

I have always been one for messenger lock being disabled by default...Ctrl+Space is one key combination to trigger IME and is largely used with people here in Taiwan when we need to type Chinese.
We get people confused about Messenger disappearing whenever they want to type Chinese too.
