RE: Burning files to DVDR
Either:
* tweak your burning process with Nero or the likes, and don't use the build in feature of Windows
* strip some files from the archive
* split the file(s) over multiple dvd's
* find another method of compressing the files
* buy a double layered dvd writer and dvd disc

you got no other choice...

If it is that important for it to fit onto one disk, you could buy a dual layer disk.

Don't everyone start telling me that dual layer disks are expensive, he only needs one, just for this case.

That's assuming the DVD Burner is a DL burner... and the built in thing for Win XP doesnt recognise DVD's, that is going to be one of the new things in Longhorn

I'm just going to compress every file seperately and see how that goes :D

Probably not very well, because each archive will have the same overhead data, plus the compressed file inside. But maybe if you compress those archives ... I don't know.

OK since the compressing theory doesnot work for you, you might want to RE-ENCODE or CROP some of your AVI files to a lower video or bitrate, which would free some space for you...

a nice free program would be ... VirtualDub -> http://www.virtualdub.org/index

give it a try it is very good...
Window Manager is discontinued, for WLM try the new,
Enhancer for contact list docking, auto-hide, hide taskbar button, remove button flashing and remember keyboard layout in conversation windows
