I think I have the same problem with my MSN (MSN 8; Windows Live Messenger)... Here are some technical details of the crash of MSN:
1- As soon as I'm logged in (can't even see my contact list), msn start to jam (it gets all white, like a "program not responding"; know what I mean?)
2- Then, my computer starts to lag a lot. When I check the task manager, it says that MSN (msnmsgr.exe) takes 100% CPU and a LOT of memory (around 500Mb, on a computer equiped with a 512Mb of RAM)
3- After that, everything jams and the computer crashes after some time (probably overheating because the CPU is going mental)
So, that's for the technical details. If you need details about my OS, computer characteristics or anything else, just ask.
I did some research on the net and I'm not the only one: other people experience this strange bug on msn live. The symptoms are the same: huge CPU and memory usage from msnmsgr.exe and then computer crash.
I tried to uninstall Plus! Live to check if there is any connection between the bug and the plugin. In fact, I didn't faced the bug since I uninstalled Plus! yesterday... Just to make sure it was Plus! doing all the trouble, I reinstalled it, and the bug reappeared!
Now I run on Windows Live without Plus! and I'm hoping I can reinstall Plus! soon because I really like the options it adds to MSN... A thing to note, though: Live messenger was running perfectly WITH Plus! the first few months after it's (official) release. It started to bug after about 7-8 months of use. That's strange...
So that's it. I hope I helped in a certain way and that you'll be able to find something to help us.
