I had the same problem when i download the file from live.com direct link.. seems like M$ has purposely corrupt that link file.

Search from other d/l link on the web.

I can't login after installing WLM, the sign-in just doesn't complete..

Heard that u have to sign-up as beta user to use WLM..

Uninstall any older versions of Windows Live Messenger. Delete its folder(note: its file name is still written as MSN Messenger), delete all cache, and other temporary internet files, run disk cleanup, restart your PC, run Disk Defragmenter.
After doing those, redownload at http://messenger.live.com/ and reinstall it.
Try those steps. Probably will help

im able to install it again by copying the installer frm another computer and installing it over in this comp..

but i still have a problem whereby my personal messages will get erased and my chat window's background wont stay either..
