Hello there Jraymer360,

First of all I hope you've checked your Firewall settings to not block Windows Live Messenger from accessing the internet.

Also I notice in your tray bar that you're running both Windows Live Messenger and an older version, called "Windows Messenger." Can you try to shut down that old version? It's the icon to the right of your Windows Live Messenger icon, with the two green "puppets."

If that's the problem...i'm going to facedesk because i didn't think of it.


That won't work, And i only have Windows firewall, And no anti virus programs.

Should i un-install the old .Net MSN?

I'm out of ideas.. Perhaps you should take a look at the following thread:

I can't seem to sign into Windows Live Messenger.

Thats how i got on this forum =P

won't work for me...Thanks for the help anyways, I think i'll probably just stick with my .NET Messenger for now then...

Yeah about 3 times, Because the first time i thought i might have downloaded a 2010/2011 version, but still didn't work.

I've just tried this out since I happen to be using Windows XP for the moment. Trying to sign Windows Live Messenger doesn't do anything if the Windows messenger is running.

I would take a look at the following site:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/302089/en-us

After you've disabled Windows Messenger, re-install Windows Live Messenger, make sure you don't have any other Windows Live Messenger add-ons installed.
